Discovering Vence & Tourettes-sur-Loup on the Riviera

The region of Provence boasts an abundance of stunning homes and luxury properties offering a huge amount of charm, and the area around Vence in particular features some beauties. This diverse and sought-after area known for its colourful markets, rolling vineyards, olive groves, fantastic wines and cuisine, lavender fields and beautiful skies offers a unique experience. After all, it’s a landscape which inspired many great artists such as Cézanne, Renoir, Picasso and Van Gogh.

Provençal Living in Vence and Tourettes

Provencal life certainly has much to offer for people looking to buy a holiday home or move to France permanently. Daily Market in Medieval Vence

A typical and sought-after Provençal medieval market town, Vence is still surrounded by its original fortifications with ancient houses set against the walls. In the old town, there are many cafés, numerous art galleries picturesque squares and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. A daily market is held every day in the main square, Place Maréchal Juin, just outside the historic town walls.

Artistic Saint-Paul-de-Vence

Another gem not to missed along this stretch is the perched village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. One of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera, exploring the old village is a delight. You can enter through the original stone gateway and stroll along the long, narrow cobbled street ‘Rue Grande’ that runs from one end to the other. The ancient houses have attractive facades and include many interesting architectural features. Known for its strong art connections, the village is home to many world class art galleries and famous artists such as Picasso, Braque and Miro have stayed here.

Historic Tourettes-sur-Loup

Situated inland between Nice and Cannes and just 14 kilometres from the coast, Tourettes-sur-Loup is another charming, historic village perched on a rocky outcrop. Tall houses are built along the ancient ramparts and the narrow, pretty streets are made for exploring. Again, art has a big part to play here and the village centre in the ‘Grand Rue’ is a treasure trove of art galleries and workshops. We have some beautiful properties in Vence and Tourettes areas.

Authentic La Colle sur Loup

Just 10 miles from Nice, La Colle sur Loup, is a truly authentic village set in a lovely landscape of olive, pine and lemon trees. The perfume of flowers and vineyards all add to a perfect setting and climate which is close enough to the coast but far enough away for a little tranquillity. The historic centre boasts vibrant shopping streets and the picturesque narrow alleyways can all be enjoyed as you take a stroll, enjoy a glass of rosé and just unwind and relax.

Cagnes sur Mer by the Sea

This leisurely seaside resort with its pebbled beaches and forests has lots to offer. Don’t miss exploring the medieval quarter and old city - Haut de Cagnes - which includes a labyrinth of narrow streets full of flowers, little houses and local artists’ studios. If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the Cote d’Azur, this is a truly authentic place to buy a property. The views of the surrounding mountains and sea are breathtaking.
