Property Description

This beautiful traditional longere has been renovated and today offers comfortable accommodation in an idyllic setting with a large maintained park, new luxury swimming pool, gated entrance and room to enjoy both inside and out.

THE ACCOMMODATION

The south facing property enjoys plenty of natural light in all of the rooms with several doors leading to the terrace area across part of the front facade, the latter shaded with a pergola covered in wysteria and leafy grape vines. There are two double aspect end lounges (either of which could be used as a downstairs bedroom if required), and a formal entrance hall with open mezzanine and stairs to the upper rooms.

The dining room with original fireplace, leads directly to the galley-style kitchen located at the rear of the longere. A scullery and good-sized laundry offers plenty of room for a large refrigerator, washing machine, dryer and storage plus an extra utility basin.  There is a bathroom and separate wc (facilitating the option of a downstairs bedrooms if needed), an additional guest WC with wonderful old French doors attached and also another lounge, creating 5 individual rooms on the ground floor (including the entrance hall).

Reached via the stairs in the hall, a mezzanine provides access to a large guest bedroom with attractive original beams and an en-suite with shower and wc, and to the master also with beautiful beams, with dressing area, very large bedroom with superb views over the pond (under a 100 year old oak tree), pool and park. Plus it has its own en-suite bathroom with claw foot bath and wc.

The whole house has been tastefully decorated with great attention to detail and both inside and out there is space to relax and enjoy.

OUTSIDE

Within the plot of approx. 4 acres (1.6 hectares), the owners have recently added a luxury swimming pool with sun terrace. As well as the original pond (with daily visiting ducks), there is a large lawned area with a selection of trees, formal gardens and fields beyond, containing peach, apple and cherry trees. A double carports has recently been added to the gravelled parking area and two separate gated entrances.

There is an additional substantial wooden garage which also provides storage for those winter logs and to the rear of it a covered al-fresco dining area facing the pool during the hot summer months. Another wooden cabin houses the ride-on mower and other garden utensils and provides further outdoor storage.

ABOUT THE AREA

The hamlet has half a dozen houses which are non-intrusive and the local village, with boulangerie, bar and restaurant, is a short 5 minute drive away. The main town nearby offers three supermarkets, banking, petrol, hairdressing, restaurants, post office, etc. Access to Tours (with the airport offering Ryan Air flights), Vendome and Le Mans is quick and easy, the latter offering the TGV links direct to Paris and Charles de Gaulle airport amongst other options.

There is a good selection of large towns nearby and the region is a hive of outdoor activity in the summer, including concerts, sports, village brocoants, cycling, kayaking/canoeing, hot air balloon flights and  plenty of regular fresh food markets.

Ideal as a family home (permanent or holiday) just be prepared to be inundated with guests wishing to enjoy this idyllic retreat.
