The area is full of many ancient buildings and despite the fact that some of the city walls were removed at the beginning of the 20th century to accommodate urban development, the area still retains a very rural feel.

As well as being a city full of medieval history, Perpignan is also a cultural and outdoor city fully embracing the outdoor activities lifestyles. You can enjoy a wide variety of activities ranging from golf to canyoning and snowboarding to bird-watching. And as the area is so close to the Mediterranean Sea, you can find miles of sandy beaches surrounded by beautiful countryside only 15 minutes away.
