Six Beautiful Beaches in Le Lavandou on the Riviera
The French Riviera, or the Côte d’Azur as it’s known in France, is renowned for many things: a Mediterranean climate, a string of celebrity residents and a luxurious lifestyle, but we’re taking a closer look beyond the typical resorts along this famous coastline. Nice, Monte Carlo and Cannes are all synonymous with the Côte-d’Azur, but if you’re looking for something a little different, more affordable and filled with beauty spots, discover Le Lavandou situated in the Var department.
Awaken Your Senses at Le Lavandou
Awakening your senses, Le Lavandou brings you succulent palm trees, the relaxing scents of eucalyptus and the golden trail of mimosa trees, a symbol of the French Riviera. To complement this striking scenic image are 12 fine sandy beaches scattered along Le Lavandou’s coastline. To give you a little taster for this tropical paradise, we have shared our choice of the 6 most beautiful beaches in Le Lavandou to visit.
Plage de Saint-Clair
‘Unique’ is always an interesting way to describe a stretch of coastline, but Saint-Clair beach is perfectly placed at the foot of the pine forests and feels as though it has its own climate. Soaked in sunlight and surrounded by nature, Plage de Saint-Clair is Le Lavandou’s best-kept secret! Like other beaches along this coastline, Saint-Claire beach allows you to bring your own picnic and offers umbrella hire, pedal boats and other activities. Enjoy the views of the Golden Isles from any of the impressive, modern beachfront bars and restaurants.
Grande Plage du Lavandou
Famous for its family-friendly shore and choice of activities, Le Lavandou’s Grande beach is the busiest and liveliest on our list. As a windsurfer’s dream, the sea is filled with beginners and pros who show off their skills, and fail in the easterly winds. For a little more privacy, there are several secluded areas where you can relax or sign your children up for their first swimming lesson at sea. Popular activities include canoes, pedal boats and kayaks, or for those of you who are a little more adventurous, try sub-diving. Out of the water, the beach is lined with palm trees providing some shade as you walk along the beachfront of Le Lavandou’s most famous beach.
Plage de Jean Blanc
The Jean Blanc beach, also known as the Silver Jewel, is indeed a treasure found in the heart of a cove along the Mediterranean coast. Although the beach is small, it still boasts a wealth of nature, with pine trees shielding the white sands and crashing waves. If you’re looking for a little more privacy and clear waters, take the short journey down the 100 steps that lead you to a little corner of French paradise. Jean Blanc beach is a place to unwind, relax and take in the clear views out to sea.
Plage de Cavaliere
The list of activities available at the Plage de Cavaliere is almost as long as the sandy shore! You and your family can choose from a variety of water sports, including surfing, diving, parasailing, and water skiing, for the more adventurous among you! Parking is simple as there are usually spaces along the several-kilometre-long beach. If you are visiting the beach between June and September, you will be treated to a Provencal-style market on Monday mornings, one not to be missed before you take your place on the beach for the rest of the afternoon.
Plage d’Aiguebelle
Meaning, beautiful water: Plage d’Aiguebelle takes its name from the sea. Watch as the clear waters blur into the deeper blue, creating glimpses of a shimmering mirror effect. Snorkelers can find rock pools along the sides of the beach to spot some aquatic friends, and as the sun sets, you can even enjoy a barbecue with friends. The surrounding scenery might have you gazing out as you daydream away your afternoons in the sun.
Plage de l’Anglade
Last but certainly not least, Anglade is Lavandou’s main beach and home to a wealth of restaurants and bars. Perfect for families and couples, and enjoyed by locals and holidaymakers alike, the sun always seems to shine on the Plage de l’Anglande. We recommend that you take an evening walk along the seafront before heading to the centre of Le Lavandou to continue your evening.
Relish in the sunshine as it beams down onto the Varoise coast, unwind to the sound of the waves crashing, or feel energised by the array of water sports and activities that Le Lavandou has to offer. Discover our properties for sale in Lavandou and Bormes-les-Mimosas.
