Brittany, or Bretagne as it is known locally, has remained a favoured holiday hotspot for Brits and French alike. Situated in the North-West corner, jutting into the Atlantic, the area offers access to some of the most beautiful sandy beaches, fertile countryside and cobbled-street market towns.

Access to the fabulous coast and fertile countryside across the four departments: Finistere, Cotes D’Armor, Morbihan and Ille et Vilaine, presents opportunities to enjoy a wide range of activities and sports including sailing, fishing, golf, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding, to name a few, which will satisfy even the most active of individuals.

A strong Celtic heritage gives a familiar Cornish semblance to the region, which complimented by strong Breton tradition and culture, including their own language, the area provides a wonderful combination of home-from-home comfort and foreign excitement. With speciality culinary delights such as savoury and sweet crepes, seafood, ‘galettes’ biscuits and refreshing fizzy cider, there is something for all the family to indulge and enjoy.

Bursting with history and charm from it’s long and lively past, the area offers diverse attractions from prehistoric megaliths (standing stones) rising from the ground around Carnac; to half-timbered buildings in the medieval towns of Vannes, Dinan and Rennes; and castles and forts particularly in Saint Malo, Fougeres and Vitre.

Bretons are notorious for their warmth, down to earth and resilient nature. A more laid back and slower pace of life is complimented by annual festivals such as the Fest-Noz which brings together the Breton people and celebrates their strong cultural identity which continues to be preserved across the region.

With longer summer days that aren’t quite as hot as in the south and milder winters than in the UK, plus easy access to the UK and Paris, Brittany offers an incredible opportunity for anyone seeking a fantastic new life in France.

We love Brittany, we spent years living and studying there, enjoying the beaches at Carantec or Plestin les Greves, the strawberries from Plougastel and still have friends near Morlaix and Brest in Finistere. Brittany is one of our favorites regions of France, as do many Brits, for many reasons, mostly the proximity to the UK, and for cooler summers, not everyone wants 30 degrees in the summer!
