Live the Life in Wonderful and Musical Antibes
Looking for an apartment or luxury villa for sale in Antibes or Juan-les-Pins, but want to learn more about the area first? Here’s some information about this beautiful part of the French Riviera that we think you’ll find useful…
Location and Attractions
Juan-les-Pins is one of the best-known resorts on the Côte d’Azur, situated between Nice (20 km) and Cannes (12 km) on the French Riviera. Juan les Pins is a very popular town that offers an exciting nightlife with fashionable nightclubs, casinos and even night shopping ... Antibes, in comparison, is more of a daytime place, which is quieter and provides a variety of restaurants, cafés, theatres, bars and piano bars, classy hotels and private clubs.
The Jewel of Cap d’Antibes
Cap d’Antibes is known as the diamond of the French Riviera. Follow the signposted path along the coastline and into an immense and immaculate park, and you’ll understand why. Of course, Cap d’Antibes is also home to several prestigious residences. For example, the famous Eden Roc Hotel has a reputation as the most beautiful hotel in the world.
Historical Significance
Until the 1900s, Antibes was the only main town between Marseille and the Italian border. It was the only town on the coast protected by ramparts and has managed to conserve historic monuments from every period in its heritage. For example, the Chateau, bastion, and towers have all been transformed into a magnificent Modern Art Museum, History and Archaeology Museum, and Museum of traditional crafts and local culture.
Exploring the Historic Town Centre
The historic town centre is better visited on foot allowing to soak on its particular atmosphere with pretty squares and typical narrow streets. You will get the feeling that time has stopped as you walk around, enjoying the charming craft workshops and boutiques with their sun-faded façades or by the beautiful aromas of freshly simmering dishes emanating from the open doors.
Beautiful Beaches and Ports
The beaches of the Antibes area stretch for 25 km, with pebble beaches giving way to fine sandy beaches (some public, others private), secluded (some) secret creeks, and five ports (Vauban, Galice, Crouton, Olivette and Salis). Not many people know that Port Vauban is the largest pleasure boat port in Europe; obviously, with so much water and sea around you, it goes without saying that Antibes offers you every kind of water sports you can think of.
Legendary Jazz Festival
Last but not least, the legendary jazz festival has brought the stars to Antibes for many years; from Sidney Bechet and Louis Armstrong to John Coltrane, or Miles Davis and the sublime Ella ... they’ve all played their cool stuff here.
Celebrating 50 Years of Jazz at Juan les Pins
This year, the oldest-running jazz festival in Europe celebrated its 50th Anniversary. The prestigious international jazz festival Antibes ‘Jazz à Juan’ will pay tribute to the famous jazz musicians who have performed on the mythical Pinède Gould stage since 1960.
A Musical Showcase
The main program took place over a two-week period in July 2010, with major jazz stars performing at several international jazz festival venues to pay tribute to Antibes’ Juan les Pins Jazz Festival’s 50th Anniversary.
Performing jazz artists this year include the Creme de la Creme in Jazz music, including George Benson, David Sanborn, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Paco de Lucia, Keith Jarrett, Diana Krall, Marcus Miller, Monty Alexander and Chuco Valdes, Roy Hargrove Quintet, Maceo Parker, Manu Katché, Liz Mc Comb, and many more ...
