The southernmost department of Brittany, Morbihan (department 56), is a wonderful place to own a holiday home in France.  Its prefecture is on the Atlantic coast, Vannes, an ancient yet vibrant destination. Carnac is certainly one of the main attractions of the region, featuring rows of standing stones that predate the likes of Stonehenge in the UK. Morbihan also features the Brocéliande forest, most famous in legend for being the final resting place of Merlin the magician, King Arthur's advisor.

Breton and Celtic culture are alive and well in Morbihan through music, festivals and more.
