House Hunting in Spring

This new blog article provides tips and information about the benefits of house hunting in France in spring. Buying activity is traditionally higher in spring as property buyers look to take advantage of the warmer weather and plan to secure their dream property in time for the holiday. But this year is a little different; the sun is taking time to come out while new properties trickle through to the market after a subdued start of 2024.
As families return to work and classrooms, we advise planning around bank and school holidays in France, especially in May, which has several religious and historic ‘jours fériés’ when many families take advantage of extended weekends, called bridges, starting with labour day on May 1st, a Wednesday, the perfect day for strategic holiday planning, and long “viaduct” weekends. This is repeated the following week, on the 8th May for VE Day celebrations and the next day, on 9th May (Ascension) for an extended bank holiday weekend. Then a few days later, on the 21st May this year, the French celebrate pentecost (Whit) Monday with another public holiday, so be aware and arrange visits with extra care during this period.

- The 77th edition of the glamorous Cannes Film Festival will be held on the Riviera from 14 to May 25. The glitzy yearly gathering of actors and filmmakers is followed by the Classic Monaco Grand Prix 2024, which takes place on the 25th/26th of May. It’s one of the most famous tracks in the F1 racing calendar and one of the driver’s favourites.
- Visit the French Tennis Open of Roland Garros from May 26 until June 9 and indulge in the ultimate shopping experience at the iconic Printemps store at Boulevard Haussmann in Paris, one of the leaders in fashion, luxury, lifestyle and beauty.
- The OFF Festival in Carcassonne is a renowned event celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
